My son Sean seems to have a symbiotic relationship with our black lab, Sally.  At first, they tolerated each other, but lately they spend more time together.  And Sally no longer mistrusts Sean and I believe the reverse is true for Sean.  She wags her tail when he approaches, which is different and he has learned to treat her as something more than his personal pillow.
